Rice -- Quick athlete who could see action at inside linebacker and on special teams... Will begin fall drills as a backup at the stud ILB position. 2004: Played in 10 games with one start (Fresno State) to earn his first letter... Credited with 14 tackles (10 primary), including one for a five-yard loss against Fresno... Had season-highs of four stops against both SMU and Fresno. 2003: Redshirt.
High School -- 2003 graduate of Chattahochee High in Alpharetta, Ga., north of Atlanta... Two-time all-region linebacker for coach Bill Waters... Named to the Super 11 list and as a player to watch by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution... Voted the Cougars[apos] team captain and received the Coca-Cola Golden Helmet MVP Award... Led the squad with 120 tackles, including 18 for losses of 74 yards, to win all-Fulton County honors... Also had 11 pass deflections and forced two fumbles... Had 118 tackles as a junior and 270 for his high school career... Helped the Cougars to the state playoffs as a sophomore and junior... Also competed in lacrosse... Member of the honor roll and the all-region academic team... Won an academic athletic leadership award from local television station.
