No. 13 Rice Welcomes Texas to Holloway Field

HOUSTON — For just the third time ever, the 13th-ranked Rice Soccer team will welcome in-state rival Texas to Holloway Field this Sunday, Sept. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be streamed by CUSAtv.

Scouting Rice
• Head Coach Brian Lee is in his third season at the helm of the Rice soccer program. He holds a 29-9-4 record and is 316-197-59 in 24 years as a head coach.
• The Owls are 5-0-0 after defeating Texas State, 2-1, on Thursday, the best start in school history
• Junior midfielder Delaney Schultz leads Conference USA in both goals (4) and points (11). She also leads the team or is tied for the lead with three assists, 17 shots and 10 shots on goal.
• Junior defender/forward Caleigh Boeckx is tied for the team lead with two goals while also chipping in three assists.
• Goalkeeper Bella Killgore has allowed just three goals, recording a 0.59 goals against average and an 86.4% save percentage.

• Texas is 1-2-1 on the year, picking up its first victory of the year over New Mexico State, 4-0.
• Freshman midfielder Lexi Missimo leads the Longhorns with two goals and six points.
• Last year's leading scorer senior midfielder Julia Grosso, a Preseason All-Big 12 selection, is tied for the team lead with a pair of goals.
• Fifth-year senior goalkeeper Savannah Madden has a 1.66 goals against average and a save percentage of 72.0%
• UT returns 19 players, including nine starters, from last year's squad.

• Sunday's match will be the seventh meeting overall between Rice and Texas and the first since 2018.
• Texas holds a 5-1-0 record in the series, though it is tied, 1-1-0, in games played in Houston.
• Texas has won the last three meetings dating back to 2014.
• Rice's only victory came on Sept. 10, 2006, a 1-0 decision.
• The teams also met in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, 3-0 Texas win.
Rice vs. the Big 12 Conference
• When the Owls face Texas, it will be the 30th meeting against the Big 12 Conference.
