
Owls Rally for Draw at North Texas

DENTON – The Rice soccer team fell behind early and rallied for a 2-2 draw Sunday afternoon on the road at North Texas. With the tie, Rice moves to 9-2-4 (3-1-4 American) while the Mean Green moves to 5-9-3 (1-4-2 American).
How It Happened
Two goals in the opening 19 minutes gave the Mean Green a commanding lead before Leah Chancey struck for her ninth goal of the season to bring the Owls within one just past the 20-minute mark. Eight minutes later, Allie Love evened the score after a shot ricocheted off the crossbar in front of Love. The two sides were even at the half.
Chancey had an opportunity to put the Owls in front in the opening minutes of the second half, but this time the UNT keeper was there for the save. Mia Brumlow later had a chance, but the Mean Green held once again and the two sides eventually settled for the draw.
