2022: Appeared in nine games in relief… Tossed a scoreless inning vs. Baylor on 3/2… Did not allow a run over three consecutive appearances (SFA on 3/15, Texas A&M on 3/22 and Marshall on 3/27) while working a combined 2.2 innings… Fanned two of three vs. Texas A&M for his season strikeout high.
2021: 1-2 with a 4.12 ERA in 14 games… Returned to action for the first time since 2019 with 2.1 scoreless innings in relief at Louisiana on 2/26…Did not allow a run in his first four appearances (11.1 IP) between 2/26 and 3/21, highlighted by a career-best four innings of work vs. Kansas State on 3/14… Matched his single-game best of four strikeouts vs. KSU, the first of three 4K games (4/2 at Middle Tennessee and 5/9 at UAB)… Did not surrender a home run in 2021 and has not allowed one in his first two seasons at Rice (34 games, 51.2 IP).
2020: Did not see 2020 game action in his second season with the program… Worked hard to rejoin his teammates on the field when the collegiate season came to an early end.
2019: Posted a sound and solid debut season of college baseball, primarily out of the bullpen… Led Rice freshmen with 27.2 innings… Tied for second on the staff with 20 appearances overall… Went 1-0 with a save and a 4.23 ERA… Improved during his rookie season, posting a 1.89 ERA, a .194 opponents’ batting average, and a 0.95 WHIP over his final 19.0 innings in 13 appearances to close out the year… Picked up a victory working in relief against Louisiana Tech… Faced the Bulldogs again in an elimination game at the C-USA Tournament and earned a save with 2.1 hitless shutout innings… Recorded a career-high four strikeouts in a game on two occasions, on the road vs. WKU and at home against Prairie View.
Prior to Rice- A two-sport standout at Second Baptist High School, playing quarterback in football and pitching for former Rice All-American Lance Berkman... Played select ball for Texas Twelve Maroon... Recognized as a PerfectGame 2017 Honorable Underclassmen All-American, a 2018 PerfectGame Preseason All-American in the Texas Region, and ranked in the top 500 in the nation by PG for the 2018 class... Played quarterback for the football team.
