2022: Appeared in a career-best 20 games, including one start while setting career-highs for innings (34) and strikeouts (29)… Made his season debut with 1.2 scoreless innings at Texas on 2/19… Worked three or more innings out of the bullpen four times (Houston on 3/8, FAU on 4/1, UTSA 4/15 and Houston 5/17)… Credited with the win vs. Houston in the finale of the Silver Glove Series and earned a spot on the All-Silver Glove Series team with a 1-0 record and 1.29 ERA while appearing in all three games… Made his lone start of the season vs. Louisiana on 5/10, pitching four innings and striking out a career-high six... Did not allow a run in his final two appearances (3.0 at Houston, 1.0 at FIU).
2021: Posted a 2-1 record in 10 games (3 starts)… Picked up a win in relief in his first outing of the season, allowing one run in 4 innings while striking out a career-high four vs. HBU on 2/21… Top outing of the year came in his second start… Tossed a career-high 5.1 scoreless innings at Texas A&M on 3/23, allowing just one hit and matching his career-best four strikeouts to pick up his first win as a starter.
2020: Shared the staff lead in appearances (7as asa true freshman, all of which were out of the bullpen… Best outing was 2.0 scoreless frames with a pair of strikeouts against Missouri State… Pitched a career-long 3.0 innings and notched three strikeouts in the lone Silver Glove Series game vs. crosstown rival Houston… Averaged a strikeout per inning and maintained a 3-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Prior to Rice: A 2019 graduate of Sealy High School… Ranked as one of the Top 50 right-handed H.S. pitchers in the state according to PerfectGame… Multi-sport star for the Tigers who played baseball, football, and basketball… Coached in baseball by Dane Bennett… Four-year varsity starter as a switch-hitting shortstop who began pitching later in his prep career… First team All-District 25-4A pitcher as both a junior and senior, closing out his prep career with a 1.44 ERA… Went 3-2 with a save and a 1.73 ERA in nine appearances totaling 36.1 innings as a senior… Held opposing batters to a .164 average and finished with 55 strikeouts (13.6 strikeouts per 9.0 innings)... Helped the Tigers post a 23-11 record and reach the Region 4 Quarterfinals of the 2019 state tournament… Earned all-district accolades as a sophomore shortstop in 2017.
