All-AAC first team selection at designated hitter and a unanimous selection by league coaches to their all-freshman team after leading the Owls in hitting (.292), slugging (.493), hits (61), RBI (38), doubles (12), home runs (10), total bases (103) and multi-hit games (18) while tying for the lead in multi-RBI games (8)… First freshman to lead the Owls in hitting since Anthony Rendon in 2009 and first to lead in RBI since Ford Proctor in 2016… Eighth freshman in school history to reach double figures in home runs.. Opened the season by hitting in his first six games, and drove in a run in each of the three games of the Puerto Rico Baseball Challenge in Ponce, Puerto Rico… Had three hitting streaks of at least six games, including a second-best nine-game streak from 4/5-4/18… Drove in a season-best six runs vs. USF on 4/12, the last four coming on his first career walk-off and grand slam home run… Did not homer in his first 12 career games before connecting for the first time vs. Yale on 3/9… Hit is 10 homers in a 39-game stretch… Slammed two homers for the first time in his career at UAB on 4/27 and drove in four to give the Owls a win in the series finale… Scored a season-best four runs in the series opener at Memphis to lead the Owls to a 10-5 win at give David Pierce his 500th career coaching victory… Tied for the team lead in home runs at Reckling Park (4 with Michael Zito) and led the team with six long balls on the road… Hit .327 with six homers at night to lead the team… Opened the season 0x13 vs. LHPs, but after homering off FAU’s Trey Beard on 3/21, hit .313 the rest of the season (10x32).
Prior to Rice
All District 22-6A second-team selection as a junior and senior for coach Jose Guerra…Three-year starter and four-year letterman… Was ranked 285th on Perfect Game’s MLB Draft Top 400 and named to PG’s preseason All-Texas Region team. Father, Chris Brown, was an All-American running back at Colorado and was a third-round pick by Tennessee in the NFL Draft… He rushed for over 3,000 yards in eight seasons, the last two with the Houston Texans… Uncle (Levelle Brown) played football at Northwestern, aunt (Lashawndra Brown) played basketball at North Central College, cousin (Deshaun Brown) played football at Lafayette, and a cousin (Luke Pettaway) is a redshirt freshman defensive back at Purdue.
