Boehm, Diaz and Rios Earn Academic All-District Accolades

Houston—Garet Boehm, Anthony Diaz, and Lorenzo Rios have been named to the 2026 Academic All-District® Baseball team, recognizing their achievement both on the diamond and in the classroom while helping spark the Owls to their most successful season in 10 years.
Boehm hit .266 with five homers and 32 RBI in 52 games this season, primarily as a first baseman for the Owls. He hit .351 over the last 15 games as the Owls won eight of their last nine conference games to rise to the third seed in the American Conference Championship. He has posted a 3.76 GPA as a Sport Management major at Rice.
Diaz was 4-1 with a 5.67 ERA in 15 games (two starts) in his first season at Rice. He was 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in five relief outings over the final 15 games, including 2.2 scoreless innings in a pair of appearances at the American Conference Championship. He is majoring in Business and posted a 3.67 GPA.
Rios took over as the Owls' starting catcher in 2026, and Rice was 27-11 in his 38 starts behind the plate. He hit .223 for the season, but he hit .303 over the last 15 games. He ranked fourth in the conference, throwing out 10 runners attempting to steal. He graduated from Rice in May with a 3.61 GP while majoring in Sport Management.
Boehm, Diaz, and Rios helped guide Rice to a 35-24 record in 2026, the most wins for the Owls in a season since 2016 and an 18-win improvement over their 2025 finish, which was tied for the third-best improvement in Division I baseball this past season.
