Made 11 appearances during the year, 10 in relief and one as the opener vs. Arizona (2/26)… Made his debut vs. Virginia on 2/16 in the final game of the Puerto Rico Baseball Challenge in Ponce, Puerto Rico, giving up a pair of hits in 1.1 innings and stranding both inherited base runners… Fanned a season-high two in his two innings vs. Arizona… Matched his strikeout total with two in one inning vs. Prairie View on 3/7 and his innings total with two shutout frames vs. Houston on 4/15… Closed the season with back-to-back outings at UTSA (5/16 &17) and stranded one of two runners in each game.
Prior to Rice
First-team All-District 13-6A selection and All-VYPE Public School Baseball as a senior for coach Brett Washburn after earning second-team honors as a junior… Posted a 6-2 record with a 1.14 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 73.2 inning as Willis reached the regional semifinals before falling to eventual state champion Tomball… Selected to play in the GHBCA All-Star game.
