2007: Redshirt freshman who moved to defensive end this fall... Set up the Owls first score against Southern Miss by intercepting a pass and returning it 58 yards, the longest return by an Owl of an interception since Andray Downs returned one 72 yards for a score at Army in 2006... Recovered his first career fumble against Texas Tech 2006: Redshirt High School -- 2006 graduate of All Saints Episcopal High in Fort Worth... Two-time all-state linebacker for coach Matt Cook... Two-year member of Fort Worth Star-Telegram[apos]s all-private schools team (2004-05)... Helped Saints to Division II titles in the Southwest Preparatory Conference in 2002 and again in 2004... Team captain and most valuable player for Saints as a senior linebacker/running back... Rushed for 537 yards and five touchdowns as a senior, along with one receiving TD... Defensively, credited with 89 tackles, four forces and one interception in [apos]05... For his career, had 345 tackles in four seasons as a varsity starter, plus six interceptions, 12 forces, 11 recoveries... Had more than 1,250 yards rushing in his career and scored 18 TDs... Parents: Chris and Laura Shoppa, Fort Worth (two sisters)... Father, Chris, was a three-year football letterman (1980-82) as a defensive end; his mother, Laura E. Wright-Shoppa, was a sprinter on Rice track teams (1982-84), once holding the school record in the 400-meter dash.
