2012
After missing spring drills with a pectoral muscle injury, Shahin answered one of the key questions regarding the Rice defense, becoming one of the most disruptive interior defensive linemen in Conference USA... Finished with a career-best 45 tackles and led C-USA interior linemen with 5 sacks... Sack total ranked fifth in the nation among interior defenders... Credited with 9.5 tackles for loss, picking up TFLs in nine of 13 games... Top tackle game was seven vs. Marshall and added 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble vs. the Herd... Credited with a pair of TFL vs. Southern Miss.

Finished with a career-best 19 tackles on the season, including nine in the last four games... Credited with his first career sack at SMU...
