American Conference Announces 2026 Football Schedule Opponents

Army, Tulane, Tulsa and UTSA coming to Rice Stadium
Houston- Rice and Houston will meet for the first time in football next fall when the schools meet in Philadelphia, one of eight American Conference opponents for Rice which was announced on Tuesday.
Rice will host familiar foes Army, Tulane, Tulsa and UTSA in 2026 and will face East Carolina, Florida Atlantic and North Texas in addition to Temple on the road next fall.
Rice and Army have met split four previous meetings at Rice Stadium, the last coming in 2017. The Owls and Tulane have met 20 times at Rice stadium, with the Owls holding a 20-17 series lead and the 2026 meeting will be the third between the schools as member of the American Conference.
Tulsa and Rice have met 20 times overall, but the last three have been in Tulsa. Tulsa holds a 6-3-1 mark at Rice Stadium, but the schools have not meet in Houston since 2011.
UTSA and Rice have met every season since 2012, other than a postponed game during the pandemic in 2020.
The Owls will travel to East Carolina for the first time since 2009, where the Pirates have won both previous meetings. Rice and Florida Atlantic have split a pair of games in Boca Raton, including a 17-14 loss by Rice in 2022.
Rice and North Texas, who will meet for the first time in the American Conference on November 22, have met six times in Denton, with the Mean Green holding a 4-2 edge including a 21-17 win in 2022.
Rice returns to action on Saturday, October 25 when the Owls host UConn at 2 p.m. as part of the Owls' Hall of Fame Weekend.
Single game tickets for Rice's Hall of Fame weekend game against UConn are still available. In addition to the option to purchase individual game tickets, Owl fans also have the option to create their own customized mini plan.
