2025: Appeared in eight games including a pair of starts (2/16 vs. Virginia as the DH; 3/2 vs. Texas A&M at first base) and did not record a hit in 12 at bats… Made his debut as a pinch hitter vs. Michigan at the Puerto Rico Baseball; Challenge in Ponce, Puerto Rico... Drew a walk as a pinch hitter vs. Tennessee at the Astros Foundation College Classic at Daikin Park… Hit by a pitch vs. Houston on 3/5… Saw time at third vs. Houston (3/5) and at shortstop vs. the Cougars (3/15) after entering the game as a pinch hitter.
Prior to Rice: Product of IMG Academy for coach Robert Herold where he hit .379 with a .493 OBP and .988 OPS while scoring 36 runs, driving in 32 and stealing 28 bases in 33 games as a senior … Earned the Top Hitter Award as a senior and concluded his career with a .361 batting average... Father Javier won 165 games while pitching in the major leagues from 1998-2011 with the Expos, Yankees, Diamondbacks, White Sox, Braves, and Marlins. He struck out more than 200 hitters five times, including 238 with Atlanta in 2009. He was named to the 2004 American League team for the All-Star Game in Miami and struck out a pair of batters in a shutout inning.
