Honors at Rice
2025: Hit .300 in 28 games (14 starts) after coming into his senior year with one hit in 35 career at-bats…. Made his 2025 debut with a pinch-hit, RBI double vs. Tennessee at the Astros Foundation College Classic at Daikin Park and went on to lead the Owls with four pinch hits (in eight at-bats)… Made his first start of the season vs. Yale on 3/8 and responded with career-highs with three hits, three runs and his first career home run… Long ball vs. Yale all owed him to join younger brother Landon as the first set of brothers to homer for Rice in the same season since Antonio and Trei Cruz in 2019… Went on to hit seven of the next eight games (.406) before he was injured in a collision at first base early in the game at Lamar and missed the next 11 games.. Returned to action as a defensive replacement vs. USF on 3/12 and had an RBI double and scored twice… Hit .375 in 14 games when he appeared as a pinch hitter or defensive replacement… Hit .357 at Reckling Park and .353 during day games.
2024: Did not see any action.
2023: Appeared in eight games including six starts … Made four starts at third, and one each at DH and second, and also made a pair of pinch-hit appearances … Drove in his first career run with his first career hit in his second start of the year, at UAB on 3/17, capping a three-run eighth for the Owls to break open a tight 3-1 contest.
2022: Appeared in five games and made three starts in his first taste of collegiate action… Made his debut as a pinch hitter vs. Baylor on 3/2 and his starting debut in the first game of the doubleheader with Harvard on 3/5… Also started the second game of the twin bill vs. Harvard and started the opener of the Silver Glove Series with Houston on 3/8… Credited with a sac bunt to set up the Owls’ seventh run against the Cougars.
Prior to Rice- Led Katy Tompkins to the 6A Region III semifinals and a school-record 32 wins as a senior for coach Kyle Humphreys … Earned 6A All-State honors from the Texas Sportswriters after hitting .395 with five homers and 40 RBI and posting a .478 OBP and 1.065 OPS… Hit .375 in his career with a .439 OBP and .919 OPS while earning three letters for the Falcons… Academic All-State selection… Father (Greg West) played soccer at Tulsa while his grandfather (John West ) played golf at the same school… Born in Aberdeen, Scotland.
