2020: Conference USA Academic Honor Roll; One of three Owls to start all 16 games, including 15 times at second base and once in centerfield… Was hitting .298 through the first 14 games of the year, only to see it dip to .262 in the final two games against ranked opponents Texas Tech and Texas A&M when the collegiate season came to an unexpected halt… Hit .324 with runners on base, .304 with men in scoring position and .360 with two outs in the inning… Reached base at a .400 pace when leading off an inning… Had a stretch of reaching base in six-straight games… Tied for second on the team in RBI (7), runs scored (7), and walks (7), and was third in base hits (17)… Shared the team lead with six multi-hit games, including two three-hit games vs. Texas Tech and Houston… Maintained a .973 fielding percentage at second base in 75 total chances, and turned or started eight of the team’s 16 double plays.
2019: All-Silver Glove Series; Led the team in batting average (.308) and was one of only two Owls to start all 59 games – all while playing in his first Division I season in three years… All 59 starts were at second base, where he ended up playing 526.1 of the team’s 529.1 innings in the field (99.4 percent)… Led the Owls, and tied for fourth among the Conference USA league leaders, with five sac flies… Shared the team lead, and tied for ninth in C-USA, with 16 doubles… Also shared the team lead with six steals… Hit four triples to place second on the squad, tie for third in the league and tie for 67th among the NCAA leaders (as of the Owls’ final game in late May)… Placed third on the squad in hits (68), RBI (38) and slugging (.498)... Played the 2017 season at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Arizona… Batted .324 with 47 hits in 42 games played to help lead the Coyotes to their first region playoff appearance in five years… Maintained a .428 on-base percentage and shared the team lead in sacrifice bunts (5)… Turned or started 17 double plays in the middle of the infield… Coached by Russell Luce… Played Division I baseball at Tulane in 2016… Appeared in 23 games, while working his way into 13 starts as a true freshman, for a 41-win Green Wave squad under then head coach David Pierce… Batted .211 with a .338 on-base percentage and scored 12 times... A 2015 graduate of Second Baptist High School in Houston… First-Team All-Greater Houston and a Louisville Slugger prep All-America selection… Batted .391 with seven home runs to help lead the Eagles to a second-place finish TAPPS 4A… Four-year varsity baseball letterman under head coach Jeff Schroeder, but also earned all-state playing varsity soccer… Named to the TAPPS Academic All-State team… Born Cade Matthew Edwards on Feb. 26, 1997…the son of Kelly and Todd Edwards (has three brothers and three sisters).
