2020: Conference USA Academic Honor Roll; Appeared in two games out of the bullpen totaling 2.2 innings… Made collegiate debut with 1.2 scoreless innings against Louisiana (March 3)… Returned a week later and posted his first career strikeout in an inning against nationally-ranked Texas A&M.
2019: Participated in the 2018 fall training program but was sidelined before the start of the 2019 season.
Before Rice: A 2018 graduate of Flower Mound High School… Two-year varsity starter… Coached by Danny Wallace… Compiled a 9-3 career record on the mound… Helped lead the Jaguars to the quarterfinals of the 6A Region I state tournament as a junior in 2017… Member of the National Honor Society with a 3.8 grade point average… Named to the District 5-6A All-Academic Team… Rice University legacy player as father, Steve Burgess, was a four-year baseball letterman (1989-92)… Uncle, Dan Burgess, played football for the Owls (1984-1988).
