Bio
At Rice
2020: Conference USA Academic Honor Roll; Played in 12 of the team’s 16 games, and started every game in centerfield… Maintained a .395 on-base average, the fourth-highest mark on the team… Was hit by a pitch seven times in 12 games (compared to nine HBP in 55 games a year ago) when the collegiate season came to abrupt finish… Reached base safely in six-straight games during one stretch… Finished as the team leader in steals (2)… Scored a pair of runs in the game against crosstown rival Houston.
2019: Played in 55 of the team’s 59 games in first season of Division I baseball… Worked his way into 51 starts, including 44 in centerfield with five in right and two in left… Proved to be a solid defensive outfielder with good range… Finished the season ranked No. 13 in Conference USA with a .992 fielding percentage in 120 defensive chances… Made a career-high seven defensive put outs in a single game against Big 12 power Oklahoma, the most by a Rice outfielder in the last four years… Perhaps the single-best catch of the season was the ‘Willie Mays-style’ (back-towards-home plate) grab against Texas State while on a sprint to the 409 sign in Minute Maid Park’s cavernous centerfield… That highlight catch helped end a late-inning rally in a one-run game… Twice threw out runners on the bases - the first of which doubled-off a runner in front of more than 5,400 rowdy fans at Texas after a sensational catch to rob an extra-base hit… The second was at C-USA foe Charlotte as a batter tried to stretch a single into a double… Usually batted in the bottom three spots in the order (48 times), but also batted leadoff three times… Reached base at a .316 pace when leading off an inning… Led the team, and tied for 11th in the conference, with five sacrifice bunts… Tallied two sac flies… Overall had 12 offensive opportunities with a runner on third and less than two outs, and was able to drive in that run eight times (.750)… Hit safely in a season-best seven-consecutive games during one stretch… Collected two or more hits in a game five times, including a career-high three hits on the road against longtime foe Sam Houston State… Knocked a home run against Oklahoma and had two doubles in a game against Arizona… Seven of his first eight Division I hits were for extra bases… Finished third on the team in stolen bases, and was a perfect 5-for-5 in steal attempts.
Joined the Owls as a junior transfer from Paris College in Paris, Texas… Two-year letterman under head coach Clay Cox... Started 73 games in the outfield for the Dragons over two seasons, and played in a total of 82 games... Batted a composite .292 with 55 runs scored, 36 RBI, a .395 on-base percentage and 27 stolen bases... A 2016 graduate of Ferris High School in Spokane, Washington… Four-year varsity letterman for the Saxons under head coach Scott Ward.
