Golf Opens 2024 Fall Season at Argent Financial Classic

HOUSTON — For the fourth straight year, the Rice Golf team will begin its season in Louisiana, at the Argent Financial Classic, Sept. 8-10, in Choudrant, La.
TEAM FIELD
Joining Rice in the 17-team field are host Abilene Christian, UAB, Houston, Jacksonville State, Lamar, Little Rock, Louisiana, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Nicholls State, North Texas, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, and WKU.

Lukas Boandl – No. 1 position … one of two golfers to participate in all 11 tournaments … third on the team in stroke average with 73.88 … seven rounds of par or better … two top 20 finishes … tied for 12th at the Argent Financial Classic (9/10-12), where he set a career-low 54-hole score of 213 … fired a season-best 69 in the second round … recorded his first career tournament under par, finishing -1 at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational to tie for 27th -place (10/9-10) … tied for 13th-place at the Hoosier Collegiate (4/6-7).
Daniel Zou – No. 2 position … Participating in his first career collegiate tournament … led The Woodlands High School to a runner-up finish in the UIL Golf state championship as a sophomore...earned two victories on the American Junior Golf Association Tour (AJGA), at the CT Pan Junior Championship, where he finished seven-under par, as well as the Dominican Junior Open...was fourth in the Class of 2024 for Texas in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings and 21st overall...was also third in Teas and 24th overall for the AJGA Rolex Rankings.
Jaivir Pande – No. 3 position … saw action in seven events last year … had a stroke average of 75.85 … four rounds of par or better … saw his first career action at the Argent Financial Classic, firing a second round 67 … set a season-low 54-hole score (219) at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational (10/9-10) … had his best finish of the season at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, tying for 26th-place (10/28-29) … set a season-low for 36-hole score (144) … finished in 28th-place at the All-American Intercollegiate Individual tournament (3/18-19).
Reggie Zhu – No. 4 position … saw action in nine events … AAC Golfer of the Week (2/21) … second on the team with a 73.44 stroke average … second on the team with nine round of par or better … two top 20 finishes … had the best finish of his career at the Border Olympics, tying for third-place at -10 … fired a final round 66, tying the lowest round and lowest round to par by a freshman in school history … the -10 for the tournament set a school freshman record, becoming just the third player in school history to finish a tournament at -10 or better … tied for 12th-place at the All-American Intercollegiate (3/18-19) … tied for 22nd-place at the Bentwater Intercollegiate (2/12-13).
Blake Benson – No. 5 position … participated in nine events last year … had a 75.81 stroke average … three rounds of par or better … tied the lowest round of his career when he fired a final round 69 at the Louisiana Classics (3/12) … tied for 33rd-place at the Bentwater Intercollegiate (2/12-13) … tied for 34th-place at the All-American Intercollegiate (3/18-19).
Individual – Braeden Hoyt – participated in six tournaments last year … had a 74.63 stroke average … five rounds of par or better, including two in the 60's … tied for 34th-place at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational (10/28-29) … fired a 69 in the second round of the Border Olympics (2/19-20) … served as the substitute at the AAC Championships, coming in for the final round to shoot a team-best and career-low 68 (4/19-21).
PAIRINGS
The Owls will tee off from hole No. 10 starting at 7:30 a.m. CT. Rice will compete in groups with student-athletes from Little Rock and Louisiana Tech. Monday and Tuesday's tee times and pairings will depend on results following the previous round.
UP NEXT
Following the Argent Financial Classic, the Owls will travel to Fort Collins, Colo., for the Ram Masters Invitational on Sept. 17-18.
