Boandl opened his second nine with back-to-back birdies on the first and second holes. After four straight pars, he gave a shot back with a bogey on the seventh. But he closed his round with his fourth birdie of the day on the ninth hole.

"There was a northeast wind today, which isn't the predominant wind at Squire Creek (Country Club). That made for a challenging first round. Lukas' 65 today was phenomenal. He hit every fairway and only missed a few greens. The guys hung in there with a few late birdie which really helped. There's still lots of golf left here in Northern Louisiana."

The second round begins tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. Rice will tee off with student-athletes from South Alabama and Houston from hole No. 10 at 12:10 p.m.
