Granbury, Texas — Redshirt senior Henry Daly rebounded from a rough start to shoot a two-under 70 and sit in a tie for fourth-place following the first round of the Abilene Christian Intercollegiate, played at the par-72, 7,485-yard Halbert National.
Daly is one stroke behind Texas A&M's Aaron Pounds and Tulsa's Minas Manias, and two behind leader Kris Kuvaas of Texas A&M.
Starting on the 10th hole, Daly struggled out of the gate, bogeying the first three holes. But he began to steady his play. He got two strokes back with birdies on the 14th and 15th holes. After eight straight pars, he birdied three straight on holes six through eight before closing his round with a par on the ninth.
It was his team-leading eighth round of par or better this year, and the 32nd of his career.
Junior Nolan Kuszyk is tied for 15th-place after carding a 73. Sophomore Raines Watson shot a 77 and is tied for 34th-place.
Senior Reggie Zhu posted a 78 to sit in a tie for 36th-place, and redshirt senior Davis Byrd is tied for 44th-place after carding an 80.
The Owls carded a 10-over 298 to sit in eighth-place. Texas A&M leads the team competition at -5, three strokes in front of Missouri.
