Men’s Golf Tied for Third at American Championship

Sarasota, Fla. — The Rice Men's Golf team is in third-place heading into the final round of the American Championship, played at the Ritz Carlton Member's Club in Sarasota, Fla.
The Owls carded a one-under 287 to sit at -17. Memphis leads the tournament at -30, four strokes in front of -26.
Junior Reggie Zhu carded a 69 to become the first golfer in Rice history to start the conference championship with back-to-back rounds in the 60's. He sits at -9 in fourth-place. It's his third round in the 60's this year and the eighth of his career. It was also his 13th round of par or better this year and the 32nd of his career.
Senior Lukas Boandl is tied for 13th-place at -4 after carding a 74.
Sophomore Daniel Zou fired a 69 to sit in a tie for 15th-place at -3. It's his sixth round in the 60's this year and the 15th of his career. It's also the 18th round of par or better this season and the 39th of his career.
Redshirt junior Henry Daly posted a 76 to sit in a tie for 19th-place, and freshman Raines Watson is tied for 40th-place at +4 after shooting a 75.
Memphis' Diego Do Patrocinio Lourenco leads the individual tournament at -12, one stroke in front of Charlotte's Chase Cline.

"We were missing the spark that we had yesterday on the front nine. We didn't take advantage of the run on the back side. I'm still proud of the guys and believe we have a shot tomorrow if we can get some putts to fall."
