Take final game of regular season 10-7
Reckling Park: FIU broke open a 7-7 tie with a three-run homer in the eighth inning to take a 10-7 win on Senior Day in the final regular-season Conference USA competition for Rice in any sport.
The Details: Rice opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as Ben Dukes led off with the first of a career-best two doubles on the day and advanced to third when the ball was mishandled in the outfield. Max Johnson brought him in on a second Panther error in the inning, but the Owls could not do any further damage. After FIU took a 4-1 lead, the Owls stormed back in front with a five-run outburst in the fifth. Cullen Hannigan, making the start at catcher on Senior Day, beat out a single to short with one out and advanced to second on a stolen base. Dukes drove him in with his second double of the day. Johnson and Jack Riedel followed with walks and Ben Royo drove in Dukes and Johnson with a single. Nathan Becker reloaded the bases with a single and Guy Garibay Jr. drove in Riedel and Royo with a single. FIU tied the game in the sixth and moved back in front in the seventh before Becker tied it again with a long home run to right.
