Bulman's Slam Lifts Owls

The Details: After Lamar broke a scoreless tie with a single run in the fourth, Guy Garibay Jr. led off the bottom of the inning by drilling his second homer of the season over the right-field fence. Lamar countered with four in the top of the fifth, but the Owls fired back with three runs of their own thanks to a fielder's choice by Bulman and a two-run single by Aaron Smigelski. Lamar pushed the lead to two with a single run in the seventh, setting the stage for the Owls' rally. Antonio Cruz opened the frame with a single to center and after a strikeout, Justin Long and Connor Walsh coaxed a pair of walks to load the bases for Bulman who crushed a pitch from Landon Odom to center. Matthew Linskey came on in the ninth to record his first career save.
Notable:
- Bulman's grand slam was the first for the Owls this year and the first since Hal Hughes hit one in the final home game of last season. His five RBI were a career-high and were the most by an Owl since Nathan Becker drove in five last season at ODU. He has also reached base in all seven games this year.
- Cruz has hit in four straight and five of seven.
- Rice has now homered in eight consecutive games at home dating back to 2021 and have four homers in three games at Reckling Park this year.
- Garibay has hit six of his seven career homers at Reckling Park, including the last six in a row. He hit his first career homer at Louisiana on 2/28.
- Smigelski extended his career-opening hitting streak to six games with his two-run single. He drove in six runs over the weekend.
- Nathan Becker hit safely in all three games of the series.
