Women's race starts at 9 a.m.
HOUSTON – The Rice women's cross country team will travel to Denton, Texas to compete in their final Conference USA Championship. Race time is set for 9 a.m. on the course at the University of North Texas.
The Owls finished third at last year's C-USA Championships, the 13th time in the last 17 seasons that they have notched a top-three spot, highlighted by four team titles (2005, 2007, 2015,2016).
The Owls currently rank No.7 in the USTFCCCA South Central Regional rankings. Other top 15 C-USA teams in their regions are Middle Tennessee (No.11 - South) and Charlotte (No.11 - Southeast).
"We are looking forward to the conference championships," head coach Jim Bevan said. "We are getting people back and healthy. Caitlin Wosika and Taigen Hunter-Galvan give us tremendous leadership. Middle Tennessee and Charlotte are the odds-on favorites, but anything can happen out there on the course. We are ready to run our best. Our team is fired up and will compete hard for a conference title."
