FAYETTEVILLE - The Rice women's cross country team closed out the 2025 cross country season with a strong showing without several top runners, finishing ninth at the NCAA South Central Regional. Alex Gobran secured All-Region honors after finishing in 19th.
Post-Meet Reaction: Head Coach Jim Bevan
"We closed the season on a good note. Today was highlighted by Alex's All-Region performance with the best race of her career. She moved up 13 spots this year in a much tougher field. Miranda and Daphne had great races as well and Molly had the best Rice life of her career. I thought we competed very well and the region was the best region that I've ever been associated with team-wise and individual-wise. Having seen the field for decades, this was the best I've seen. We finished on a good note and we look forward to starting our indoor season."
Gobran led the way with a time of 20:43.5, good for 19th and All-Region honors for the 6k race. Miranda Schriver (41st) and Daphne Mayer (45th) were close behind.
Molly Humes added a 59th finish with a time of 22:05.4, while Heidi Nielson rounded out the top five finishers for the Owls.
