Post-Meet Reaction: Head Coach Jim Bevan
"I was very happy with how we ran today. We made a big step forward from two weeks ago. We were able to add Oliwia and Amelie Attenborough to the roster for this week and that made a big difference. Oliwia ran great for her first race of the season and Amelie ran well and she'll continue to get better. Alex Gobran moved up quite a bit throughout the race, equaling one of the best races she has ever ran. Miranda Schriver also continues to impress, running another amazing race. Daphne Mayer went from 102 at the mile mark to 29th at the finish, what an awesome showing from her. Molly Humes also passed a ton of people, 96 to be exact, from the mile to the finish, marking the best race she has ever ran with our program. The course ran a little slow today since the ground was soft. However, I am pleased with our race today and getting a look at the course since we will be here in six weeks for the regional. We are closing the gap on several teams within our region. We ran today within striking distance of SFA and Arkansas and hopefully in six weeks we will be at a place where we can make some noise. We ran so much better today than at our home race. Overall, I give us an A effort."
Alex Gobran led the Owls once again, pacing the group with a time of 16:57.4 for the 5k race. Miranda Schriver was right behind, securing a top 15 finish in 14th.
Oliwia Kopeć opened her 2025 season with a strong debut race in 19th while Daphne Mayer finished in 29th.
Molly Humes rounded out the top five runners for Rice in 56th with a time of 17:50.1.
The Owls will be back in action on Oct. 17 at Texas A&M's Arturo Barrios Invite.
