DALLAS — Rice's Bella Killgore, Mijke Roelfsema and Delaney Schultz have been named 2020-2021 Conference USA Soccer All-Academic honorees, the league office announced Sunday in Dallas, Texas.
Killgore was named to the All-Academic First Team while Roelfsema and Schultz were both named to the All-Academic Second Team. Killgore is a junior chemical engineering major who maintained a 3.70 grade point average. On the soccer field the Houston native is a two-time C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week selection who has posted seven shutouts, including four in conference play.
Roelfsema is a senior Psychological Sciences major with a 3.88 GPA. The veteran defender rarely comes off the field, playing in 97.8 percent of the team's time in C-USA only matches. She has helped limit all opponents to just 11.8 shots per game and her leadership on the backline has contributed to seven shutouts this season.
Schultz is a junior Cognitive Sciences, Computer Science double major who has juggled her studies and Division I soccer to maintain a 3.75 grade point average. The attacking midfielder scored in four-straight games during one stretch and she recorded the assist on the game-winning goal vs. No. 12 Texas A&M.
Conference USA's annual championship tournament begins Tuesday morning (April 13) at Rice's Holloway Field and concludes on Saturday. The Owls are the event's co-No. 1 seed and face old Dominion at 6:30 pm in the opening round.
