HUMBLE, Texas — For the second straight day, freshman Thomas Bockholt III set a career-low, firing a five-under par 67 to tie for fifth-place (-6) and lead Rice to a season-best third-place finish at the All-American Intercollegiate, played at the par-72, 7,096-yard Golf Club of Houston.
Bockholt's fifth-place finish was the first top five finish of his career. The 67 was his second round in the 60's this year and the lowest round by a freshman since 2014 and his 54-hole score of 210 was a career-low and the lowest by a freshman since 2017.

Benson carded an even par 72, his 11th round of par or better this year and the 34th of his career.

"(The guys) did a really good job of staying right in the moment this week, which was our goal. Assistant coach Michael Whitehead did a good job of setting the tone for them early on. We just focused on that all week. Not looking behind us and not getting too far ahead of ourselves. We were committed to that and making free golf swings out there. It's a really good start (to the spring). We're making a lot of progress and it just confirms that we're working on the right things. We'll just keep hammering those things and keep trying to get better."
