
McClintock Named To Conference USA Soccer All-Academic First Team

DALLAS -- Rice senior Amy McClintock led a group of six Owl soccer players to earn Conference USA all-academic honors the league announced from its headquarters in Dallas on Wednesday (Nov. 1).
The 2006 C-USA all-academic honors for soccer consists a first team comprised of 11 elite student-athletes and another list who earned honorable mention. All the league nominees maintained at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a starter or key reserve on the soccer team. The 2006 season marks the first time Conference USA has selected an all-academic team for soccer.
McClintock (Saint Louis, Mo.) was named to the all-academic first team by maintaining a 3.59 grade point average as a Biology & Kinesiology major. The Owls' senior goalkeeper also posted 10 complete game shut outs on the way to helping Rice to a 10-6-1 overall record.
Five Owls earned C-USA all-academic honorable mention. Senior midfielder Maria Fadool (3.27 gpa, mathematics & economical analysis), junior forward Clory Martin (3.54, economics & political science), junior defender Beth Martin (3.57, political science), sophomore midfielder Ashley Lucas (3.73, undeclared) and sophomore defender Alexa Coralli (3.60, undeclared) rounded-out Rice's sizeable academic honors list. Six honorees was the second-highest total from one school among the league's 12 members fielding a women's soccer program.
