Rice Set for Outdoor Season Debut at UH

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team will start the new outdoor season this weekend at the Kirk Baptiste Invite at the University of Houston.

Several Owls who are fresh off reaching the podium at the American Indoor Championships are set to begin their outdoor seasons this weekend.

Sultan Bakare, a second-place weight throw and third-place shot put finisher at indoors, will look to start the outdoor season strong in the shot put and hammer throw.

After taking third in the 60m hurdles at indoors, Christian Edgar will make his outdoor debut in the 400m hurdles.

Runner-up at last year's outdoor meet in the discus, Juan Marais will start his season this weekend in the same event.

The Owls are set to have a full-team outing at next weekend's annual Victor Lopez Classic.
