Greaves, Hampton Ready for NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE – The Rice men's track and field team is set for the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, with Jack Greaves and Ty Hampton representing the Owls on Wednesday on ESPN.

Both Greaves and Hampton secured spots in the championship meet in the javelin after finishing within the top 12 at the NCAA West Prelims two weeks ago in Fayetteville, Ark.

Greaves earned a spot in Eugene for the second consecutive season, finishing seventh at prelims with a throw of 72.28m. Greaves was 16^th at the NCAA Championships last season with a throw of 67.37m, earning Second Team All-American honors.

Hampton returns to the championship meet after finishing 10^th at prelims with a throw of 71.64m. Hampton was last in Eugene during the 2024 season, missing last season due to injury, and finished with Second Team All-American honors in 14^th with a throw of 70.15m.
