Owls Close 2026 Season at NCAA Championships

EUGENE – The Rice men's track and field team closed out the 2026 campaign at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday evening, where Jack Greaves and Ty Hampton represented Rice.

Greaves rounded out his sophomore campaign, finishing 20^th in the javelin with a throw of 68.02m to earn All-American Honorable Mention recognition.

Hampton closed his career 22nd in the javelin with a throw of 66.33m, also earning All-American Honorable Mention accolades.

"Always a good year when you have guys at the championship meet. The javelin was an incredible competition, the best I've ever seen. It took over 74 meters to even score today, that is just amazing. Jack continued to gain experience at the national meet, which will help him grow even more over the next couple of years. Ty closed out a tremendous career here today, back home in front of family, with both of them earning All-American Honorable Mention honors. I am proud of both of them for getting back here, and I can't wait to see what next season holds for Rice."
