Graduated from Friendswood High School (Friendswood, Texas) where he competed for the Mustangs under head coach Bruce Bolden...was a two-time All-American and UIL state runner-up in the high jump...cleared 6'6" his senior season...also played two years of varsity football for head coach Robert Koopmann and was a two-time all-district honorable mention...graduated with a 4.0 GPA and earned all-state academic team honors.
