Men’s Track Set for Busy Weekend

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team will split between two meets this weekend, with athletes competing at the Tyson Invite at Arkansas and the Howie Ryan Invite at Houston.
Several Owls ranking within the top 10 of the conference will compete this weekend against top-level competition.
The conference leader in the weight throw and shot put, Sultan Bakare is set to compete at Arkansas. Cal Abdulky is close behind in the weight throw in second while Daniel Sowell sits fifth in the American,
After breaking the school record last weekend, Christian Edgar will compete in the 60m hurdles at Arkansas, sitting fourth in the conference.
Marcus Gaitan is ranked fifth in the American for the 800m following last weekend's performance.
William Hagemeier and Chizitere Okolie will vault at Houston, both sitting in seventh for the conference. Patrick Elizondo will also jump at Houston in the high jump, with the ninth-best clearance in the American.
