PHILADELPHIA – The 25th-ranked Rice soccer team pushed their unbeaten streak to seven games after a 1-0 win over Temple on a rainy Thursday night in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rice moves to 8-1-1 (2-0-1 American) while Temple falls to 3-9 (0-3 American).
How It Happened
The Rice offense attacked early, with Eileen Alber's shot finding the Temple keeper to keep things scoreless in the opening minutes. Laurel Kelley and Albers had chances with 15 minutes left in the half, but both shots fell short. The two sides were scoreless at the half.
The second half was accompanied by a consistent downpour for the most part of the half. Rice struck for the game's lone goal in the 57th minute, with Leah Chancey's corner kick eventually finding Naija Bruckner for what would end up being the game-winner. Temple didn't record a shot until the final minutes of the match, with Kirsten Ruf securing her third clean sheet of the season.
Post-Match Reaction: Head Coach Brian Lee
