Series Notes
Rice meets a second consecutive team from the greater Houston area as the Owls host Prairie View on Saturday at Rice Stadium. This is the third time in the last four years that Rice has faced two teams in the same season. The Owls split games with TSU and Houston in 2021 and won both in 2023. Saturday's game will close out Rice's September home schedule as the Owls will be on the road the next two weeks as they open the American Conference schedule at Charlotte on September 18 and then travel to Navy on September 27.

Series Notes
- This is the third meeting between Rice and Prairie View, with all three games coming at Rice Stadium.
- Rice's sixth meeting with a team from the SWAC and the third in the last three seasons.
- Rice is 2-0 vs. Prairie View and 3-0 vs. Texas Southern, including wins in 2023 & 2024.
- Three of the previous five meetings have come after a Rice loss the previous week (2016, 2021 & 2024) while the Owls were coming off a win in the Bayou Bucket in 2023 and opened the 2018 season vs. Prairie View.
- Rice defeated the Panthers 65-44 on Homecoming in 2016 and 31-28 in 2018 in Dunlevie Family Head Football Coach Mike Bloomgren's debut.
- Tyler Stehling threw for five touchdowns and caught a sixth against the Panthers in 2016, becoming the fourth quarterback in school history to throw for more than 400 yards, and his 407 yards are a record for a Homecoming game and were the fourth-best total in school history.
- Prairie View is one of six current FCS schools to face the Owls.

- Rice is tied for ninth nationally, allowing a 50% completion percentage (Utah & Wake Forest).
- The Owls held Louisiana to a 35.7 completion percentage, the lowest completion percentage by an opponent since Tulsa completed 34.8% against the Owls in 2012 (8/23).
- Cornerbacks Khary Crump and Omari Porter have combined to hold opponents to a combined 31.6 completion percentage through the first two games. Crump has allowed just two completions in seven targets, while Porter has allowed four in 12 passing attempts.
- The Owls were eighth in the nation in pass defense last season, allowing 165.6 yards per game through the air and holding opposing QBs to a 55.4 completion percentage, their lowest since 51.7 in 2013.
