No. 43 Rice Sweeps USF on Friday

TAMPA, Fla. — The 43rd-ranked Rice Owls women's tennis team claimed a 4-0 victory over the South Florida Bulls at Friday in Tampa, Florida. Rice improves to 13-5 while USF drops to 6-13.
Rice began the doubles portion by claiming the third court with Divna Ratkovic and Anushka Ashar's 6-2 victory. Rice would then claim the doubles point with a 6-4 victory by Darya Schwartzman and Nithesa Selvaraj at the second court, but the teams would finish out the first court, with the Bulls claiming the court with a 6-3 win.
Rice only needed three wins to secure the match in singles, starting with Francesca Maguina's 6-2, 6-4, victory at the third line, making the score 2-0. Ratkovic followed up with a 6-2, 6-1, victory at the second line to push Rice to the brink of victory. Selvaraj pulled Rice across the finish line with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at the fourth line, clinching the match at 4-0.
The Owls will play their final road match of the regular season on Saturday morning when they take on the 46th-ranked FIU Panthers from Tampa.
