Golf Tied for Eighth After Two Rounds of Ram Masters Invitational

Fort Collins, Colo. — The Rice Golf team is tied for eighth-place heading into the final round of the Ram Masters Invitational, played at Fort Collins Country Club.
The Owls are tied with Sacramento State at +1. The began the day shooting a 284, but closed with a three-under 277.
Sophomore Reggie Zhu leads Rice in a tie for 22nd-place at even par. He began the day with a 71 before closing with a 69, his second round of par or better this year and the 11th of his career. It's also his first round in the 60's this year and the third of his career. He tied his 36-hole career-low of 140.
Senior Blake Benson, sophomore Jaivir Pande, junior Lukas Boandl, and freshman Daniel Zou are all tied for 35th-place at +2. Benson carded back-to-back 71's. Pande opened with a 74 before firing a two-under 68. It's his first round of par or better this year and the fifth of his career. It's also his second career round in the 60's.
Boandl began the day with a 69 before posting a 73. The 69 is his third round of par or better this year and the 19th of his career. It's also his third round in the 60's this year and the sixth of his career.
Zou posted a 73-69. The 69 is his second round of par or better this year.
Utah Tech leads the team competition at -13, four strokes in front of Colorado and Colorado State. Valparaiso's Anthony Delisanti leads the individual tournament at -10, four strokes ahead of CSU's Jake Rodgers.

"We struggled today on the putting green. This course isn't that difficult from tee-to-green, but the greens are fast and undulating. The hole locations will be tougher tomorrow, so we have to be prepared to keep the golf ball in position on the approach and be great with our speed on the greens."
