Owls Conclude Regular Season at UH

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team will wrap up the regular season Friday at the Tom Tellez Invitational at the University of Houston. The meet is Rice's last before the AAC Championships in San Antonio next week.
In total, the Owls will have 26 athletes competing across 14 events. Along with Rice, schools competing are Houston, Houston Christian, Lamar, Loyola-New Orleans, Southwestern, St. Thomas, TAMU-Kingsville and Texas Lutheran.
The Owls currently have several athletes in the top 50 of their respective events in the NCAA: Sam Welsh (9th – Discus), Ty Hampton (20th – javelin), Ese Amata (33rd – high jump), Shaun Kerry (27th – hammer throw), Gus Gannon (42nd – 3000m Steeplechase) and Cal Abdulky (43rd – hammer throw).
