Graduated from Albany HS (Albany, Texas) where he competed for the Lions under head coach Rod Britting...was s state qualifier in the triple jump and a regional qualifier in the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400...area qualifier in the 800m and long jump...senior stats: triple jump (43'8"), 4x400 (split 51.5), long jump (21 feet)...also played baseball for years under head coach David Fairchild where he was first team all-district...also played tennis and football...graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
