
Rice Set to Host J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet Saturday

HOUSTON – The Rice Owls men's track & field team is set to host the 20th annual J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet on Saturday, with the first events beginning at 10 a.m. The afternoon running session will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the evening session at 6:00 p.m.
The meet will also be Senior Day for Rice track and field, with the ceremony taking place at 5:30 p.m.
In total, the Owls will have 39 athletes competing across 17 events. Along with Rice, schools competing are Dallas Baptist, Hill College, Houston, Huston-Tillotson, Jarvis Christian, LeTourneau, McNeese State, Nicholls State, North American, Our Lady of the Lake, Prairie View, Sam Houston, St. Edward's, St. Thomas (TX), TAMU-Kingsville, TAMU-Texarkana, TAMU-CC, Texas College, Texas Southern, UTRGV and Victoria College.
With the AAC Championships on the horizon, the Owls currently have several athletes in the top 50 of their respective events in the NCAA: Sam Welsh (6th – Discus), Ese Amata (26th – high jump), Shaun Kerry (31st – hammer throw) and Cal Abdulky (36th – hammer throw).
