Golf in Fourth-Place after Two Rounds of Border Olympics

Laredo, Texas — The Rice golf team fired a pair of rounds under par to sit in fourth-place at the Border Olympics.
The Owls were -11 on the day. They opened with a 284 before closing with a 281.
Freshman Braeden Hoyt is tied for seventh-place at -5. He opened with a 70 before a season-best 69. His 36-hole score of 139 was also a season-low, and he now has four rounds of par or better this year.
Freshman Reggie Zhu is tied for 10th-place at -4. He began the day with an even-par 72 but followed with a four-under 68, his best round of the year and his 36-hole score of 140 is also a season-best. He now has four rounds of par or better this season.
Sophomore Lukas Boandl is at -1, tied for 24th-place. After opening with a 73, he bounced back by firing a two-under par 70, his team-leading seventh round of par or better this year.
Graduate student Jay Kirchdorfer is tied for 38th-place at +1. He began the day with a one-under 71, his team-high tying seventh round of par or better. However, he carded a second round 74.
Junior Raghav Chugh is +2 in a 45th-place tie after rounds of 71-75. The 71 was his fifth round of par or better this year.
Illinois State leads the team tournament at -23, eight strokes in front of North Texas. ISU's Valentin Peugnet leads the individual competition at -12, one stroke in front of Cody Winkler of UNT.
