Golf Makes a Move on Day Two of Argent Financial Classic

Choudrant, La. — The Rice Golf team fired a six-under par 282 to move into a tie for sixth-place at three-under par heading into the final round of the Argent Financial Classic.
Graduate student Jay Kirchdorfer moved into a tie for fifth-place at five-under par after firing a 69. After starting the day two-over through the first seven holes, he began to heat up with a birdie on the 17th hole. He began his second nine with an eagle-birdie. But following bogeys on two of the next three holes, he birdied three of his final four. It was his sixth career round in the 60's and 22nd round of par or better while his 36-hole score of 139 was a career-low.
Freshman Reggie Zhu carded his second straight 71 to sit at two-under par and tied for 15th-place. Sophomore Lukas Boandl is tied for 19th-place at one-under par after firing a 69. It was his third career round in the 60's and 10th round of par or better.
In just his second career collegiate round, Jaivir Pande fired a five-under par 67. Starting on the back nine, Pande bogeyed the 12th hole. But he birdied four of the next five holes to make the turn at three-under. After starting his second nine with a par, he birdied three straight holes before a bogey on the seventh hole.
Junior Raghav Chugh is tied for 61st-place at five-over par after carding a 73 and senior Blake Benson posted a 74 to sit seven-over par in a tie for 70th-place.
The Owls, who lead the tournament with 40 birdies, are tied with UAB and Houston, two strokes behind fourth-place UT-Arlington.
Central Arkansas leads the tournament at 13-under par, five strokes in front of Southern Miss. Santiago De La Fuente of Houston leads the individual tournament at 10-under par, one stroke in front of Middle Tennessee's Owen Stamper.
