Golf Duo Earn Top 15 Finishes at Argent Financial Classic

Choudrant, La. — Sophomore Lukas Boandl and graduate student Jay Kirchdorfer opened the 2023 season tied for 12th-place at three-under par at the Argent Financial Classic.
Boandl fired a two-under par 70 while Kirchdorfer carded a 74. It was Boandl's second straight round of par or better and the 11th of his career. He also set a career-low 54-hole score of 213.
Freshman Reggie Zhu closed his first career tournament with a 77 to finish in a 39th-place tie at three-over par. Jaivir Pande, also in his first career tournament and playing as an individual, carded a 76 to tie for 58th-place at seven-over par.
Junior Raghav Chugh tied for 67th-place at nine-over par after carding a 76 and senior Blake Benson posted a 77 to tie for 79th-place at 12-over par.
The Rice Golf team finished in 10th-place at six-over par after carding a 297.
Southern Miss won the tournament in a playoff at 13-under par over UAB and Louisiana. Middle Tennessee's Owen Stamper earned medalist honors at 13-under par, two strokes in front of UAB's Khavish Varadan and Santiago De La Fuente of Houston.

The Owls will take a few weeks off before returning to the links on Oct. 2-3 when it travels to Erie, Colo., for the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.
