Series Notes
• This is the fifth meeting between the two schools each owning a win and loss overall and at each home field.
• Charlotte has won the last two, winning 56-23 at Rice Stadium last year and 31-24 in overtime in Charlotte in 2021.
• Rice won the first two meetings, 27-7 in 2015 at Rice Stadium and 22-21 in Charlotte in 2016.
• Both games at Charlotte have come down to the final moments and see the trailing team rally to win.
• Rice fell behind 21-0 in midway through the second quarter in 2016 then scored the last 22 points, taking the lead with 2:53 left.
• The win was the first for Rice in the state of North Carolina…. The Owls are 1-7-1 all-time in the state (1-1 at Charlotte, 0-3 at Duke; 0-1-1 at Wake Forest; 0-2 at East Carolina).
• Rice is 6-3 vs. those teams when playing at Rice Stadium and also owns a win over North Carolina in the 1950 Cotton Bowl.

• Rice has thrown for 2,776 yards this season and the Owls' average of 277.6 per game is their highest since they averaged 327.2 in 13 games in 2008. The Owls have averaged better than 230 yards just twice since 2008 before this year (232.9 last year; 231.3 in 2014).
• The Owls have scored 42 touchdowns, matching their total from last season in 13 games. The last time they scored more than 42 was in 2014 when they compiled 48 in 13 games.
• JT Daniels (21) and AJ Padgett (3) have combined for 24 touchdown passes, the fifth most in school history and the most for the Owls since Driphus Jackson (24) and Luke Turner (1) combined for 25. The last time Rice threw more than 25 in a season was in 2008 when the Owls set the school record with 48.
Tough Stretch
Rice played the three undefeated teams in the AAC (Tulane, SMU, and UTSA) over the last three weeks, dropping all three by a combined 27 points. Rice, East Carolina, and North Texas are the only AAC teams to play each of the top three in the conference.

Rice is tied for 24th nationally with 41 pass breakups this season on 305 pass attempts. The Owls have broken up 13.4% of all pass attempts this season, their highest mark since they broke up 14.5% in 2014 (60/414). His 80-yard TD reception at USF was the longest scoring play for Rice in nine years (Driphus Jackson to Jordan Taylor for 88 yards in 2014) and was also the longest pass reception by an Owls'
