Owls on the Road for AAC Championships

HOUSTON – The Rice women's cross country team is set for their debut in the AAC this Saturday at the 2023 AAC Cross Country Championships in Greenville, North Carolina, hosted by East Carolina. The race is set for a 9 a.m. start.
Rice opened the season with a second-place team finish at the Rice Invitational and followed that showing with a first-place showing at the Incarnate Word Invitational.
The Owls have been led by Taigen Hunter-Galvan and Amelie Attenborough, who were Rice's top finishers at two races this season. Attenborough placed second at the Rice Invitational to open the season, while Hunter-Galvan opened her season, finishing 30th at the Live in Lou Classic hosted by Louisville.
Rice currently sits tenth in the USTFCCCA South-Central Region with SMU (second), Tulane (fifth) and North Texas (15th) also ranked in the region. Wichita State (12th) and Tulsa (15th) are ranked in the Midwest Region while Charlotte is tenth in the Southeast Region.
Rice finished third as a team at the 2022 C-USA Championships, with Hunter-Galvan earning All-Conference honors.
