The Details: Harvard jumped in front on the first pitch of the game on a home run to left by George Cooper, but Rice answered with three runs in the bottom of the first to take a lead the Owls would never surrender. Jack Ben-Shoshan was hit by a pitch and stole second and Austin Bulman followed with a walk. Two batters later Nathan Becker singled to right to tie the game. Connor Walsh followed with a double to score Bulman and Becker scored the third run of the frame courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Benjamin Rosengard. After Harvard cut the lead to 3-2, Rice took advantage of an error to score twice after two were out. Bulman walked and advanced to third on a double by Guy Garibay Jr. and both scored on an errant throw of a ground ball from Becker. Jack Riedel drove in the sixth run of the day with an infield single in the fourth and added a second by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the sixth. Garibay added an opposite-field home run to his double and matched Becker in going 2x5 on the afternoon. After Harvard struck for a pair of runs in the seventh and eighth, Linskey slammed the door on any further rally talk by striking out the side in the ninth to earn his second save.
Notable:
- The win on Sunday was the second consecutive for the Owls.
- Matthew Linskey has not allowed a run in his first five appearances and has struck out the side in both of his save opportunities. He has nine strikeouts in four innings this year.
- Garibay's double and homer gave him eight extra-base hits in the first 12 games (5 doubles and 3 homers). He had 13 extra-base hits in 48 games as a freshman and he is one double shy of matching his season freshman season total.
- Austin Bulman scored a pair of runs and leads the team with nine. He was 4x9 over the final three games of the weekend.
