Chugh Ties for Ninth-Place at Louisiana Classics

Lafayette, La. — Freshman Raghav Chugh fired a final round 69 to tie for ninth-place at the Louisiana Classics.
Chugh finished seven-under par, the best finish to par since Mitchell Meissner won the 2016 Jim West Intercollegiate and tying the fourth-best round to par since 1991. The 69 is his team-leading ninth round of par or better this year and his fourth round in the 60's, including his second straight.
It is also his third top ten finish while setting a career-low 54-hole score of 209.
After starting the day on the 10th hole, he began the final round with birdies on holes 12 and 13. Following a bogey on the 16th hole, he birdied the third and fourth holes. He bogeyed the sixth hole but responded with a birdie on the seventh before closing his day with two straight pars.
Senior Harrison Hineline tied for 31st -place at one-over par after carding an even par 72. It is his fifth round of par or better this year and the 17th of his career.
Senior Jake Benson posted a 76 to finish six-over par in a tie for 53rd-place. Junior Forrest tied for 80th-place at 14-over par after posting a 77 and junior Thomas Bockholt III closed with an 81 to finish 17-over par in 89th-place.
The Rice golf team tied for 11th-place with Illinois State at nine-over par after closing the tournament with a 294.
No. 21 Texas A&M won the team competition at 47-under par, 12 strokes in front of No. 25 LSU. Texas A&M's Sam Bennett earned medalist honors at 18-under par, six strokes in front of LSU's Garrett Barber.
