Men’s Golf Signs Alex Kerins for 2026-27

HOUSTON — Rice men's golf coach Justin Emil has announced the signing of Alex Kerins (Kildare, Ireland) to a grant-in-aid for the 2026-27 season.
"Alex is a tremendous addition to our program," said Emil. "He has proven that he can compete at a high level, and we believe his best golf is still ahead of him. We're excited to have him join the Rice family in the fall of 2026."
Kerins who played with the Carton House Golf Club, was a Fred Daly All-Ireland finalist after averaging 71.8 strokes per round last year. He had five top five finishes, including earning medalist honors at the Wicklow Boys Open Championship, where he fired a third round seven-under 62 to set the course record at Greystones Golf Club. He earned runner-up finishes at the Irish Men's Amateur Close Championship, where he shot a final round nine-under 64, and the Irish Junior Open. He was also a semi-finalist at the West of Ireland Open Championship. Kerins set the Irish Junior Open Tour record by firing an eight-under 64 at the IJO Elite Tour 9.
