In Brief: Rice (2-1) opens a stretch of four consecutive home matches by hosting Texas A&M Corpus Christi (7-1) at the George R. Brown Tennis Center at 1 p. m. Thursday.
Back on the Courts: Rice returns to action for the first time since splitting a pair of matches at the ITA Kickoff Weekend Austin Regional the last weekend in January. They dropped a 4-2 decision to SMU before outlasting FAU 4-3. A scheduled home match with Washington on February 4 was canceled after the Huskies advanced to the ITA Indoor Nationals after winning the UCLA Regional.

The Islanders: This will be the 15th meeting between the schools with Rice leading the series 14-0. Rice has won all 13 matches played in Houston, including two played at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. Today's match is the first of four consecutive home contests for the Owls. The lone road match in the series came in 2012, when the Owls provided the opposition for the opening of the Islanders' Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center in 2012. That win was the third on what would become a historic season for Rice, culminating with the Owls first appearance at the NCAA Women's Tennis Sweet 16.

- Anna Bowtell is 2-1 in singles in the spring and is looking to reach double figures for the fifth consecutive dual season. She has a combined singles career record in tournaments and duals of 81-28 and is six wins from matching Elle Lewis, a 2021 Rice Athletics Hall of Fame inductee who finished her career with an 87-64 record) for 10th on the Owls career chart.
- Rice head coach Elizabeth Schmidt has posted a 201-117 record at Rice and joined Paul Blankenship (a 2021 inductee into the Rice Athletics Hall of Fame) in reaching the 200 win mark with the Owls win over Lamar in the season opener. Blankenship was 279-169 at Rice from 1981-2001.
George R. Brown Tennis Center: Rice has posted a 61-14 regular-season record at GRBTC (11-0 in C-USA play) since making their debut at their new home by defeating Lamar 7-0 on 1/17/15. The Owls have also posted a 6-0 postseason mark while winning a pair of Conference USA titles at home (2015 & 2019).
