Blue Wins Fall Ball World Series with 12-5 Victory

In Brief: The Blue team erupted for seven runs in the seventh inning to turn a one-run game into a 12-5 win over Gray and sweep Rice's Fall Ball World Series, Monday afternoon.
The Details: The Blue team took the lead just two batters into the game. After Ben Rosengard walked, Drew Woodcox hit a double down the left field line, bringing in Rosengard and moving to third on left fielder Cullen Hannigan's error. Justin Long walked and Ben Dukes brought in Woodcox with a single Jack Long scored Riedle's grounder to second and Justin Dunlap singled through the left side, scoring Dukes and pacing the Blue squad to an early 4-0 lead.
The gray team threatened in the bottom half, loading the bases with just one out. But Mark Perkins got back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat.
The game stayed that way until the bottom of the fourth. Austin Bulman and Johnny Hoyle singled to put two men on with no out. Three batter later, Hannigan tripled off the left field wall, cutting the lead in half. Hal Hughes then reached on Rosengard's error, bringing in Hanningan and pulling the Gray team to within 4-3.
Dukes led off the top of the sixth with a single to center, moved to second on a ground out and came around to score on a pair of wild pitches. The gray team got the run back in the bottom half when, with one out, Manny Garza singled and moved to third on Hannigan's double, Hughes then brought him home with a sacrifice fly to right field.
But that's when the Blue squad broke the game open. Pierce Gallo and Rosengard led off the seventh with a walk and hit by pitch, respectively. Woodcox then hit the first pitch over the left field wall for a home run. It then loaded the bases with two outs, and Nathan Becker brought in Dukes and Riedle with a single up the middle. Gallo, hitting for the second time in the inning roped a triple into right center field, bringing in Dunlap and Becker.
The gray squad added a run in the bottom of the seventh for the final tally.
Woodcox went 2-4 with a double, home run and three runs batted in to lead the Blue team.
Perkins picked up the victory, going three innings, allowing just one hit while striking out two.
